FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
NOT MUCH IS EXPLAINED ABOUT THE REAL WORLD. WHAT'S IT LIKE?
It's pretty much what you'd expect roughly thirty years from now. Lots of advancement in technology, but society remains largely unchanged. People are expected to get an education, find work, and keep working until they can't physically anymore.
Politically-speaking, it's a lot more stable than the present day but the global environment is still at a large risk of collapse. As a result, many people from all sorts of generations turn to virtual reality games to escape from the overbearing pressures of real life obligations and expectations.
IS FATE/ONLINE PERMA-DEATH?
Technically speaking, no, not really. If your character dies in battle, they will be taken back to the Throne of Heroes (see: the start screen). Depending on your choice, you'll respawn back in the starting town of Keterburg in Aithir. Dying does incur some penalties, such as loss of experience and broken Mystic Codes that need to be repaired. These can be gained back by paying a small fee of Saint Quartz each time, but we do advise you to exercise caution when tackling missions.
DOES MY CHARACTER HAVE TO BE A BETA TESTER? IS THE BETA TESTING CLOSED?
In terms of character history/timelines, the answer is: no. There have been attempts on part by the government to shut the game down to prevent further casualties, but since the game server exists in a different world and dimension altogether, these attempts have failed.
While the website and download link for the game have been removed, you can still access the data through the Dark Web and other sites that have decided to keep it up, for those who are morbidly curious enough to attempt to throw their life into the game.
HOW CLOSELY RELATED IS FATE/ONLINE TO THE CANON FATE UNIVERSE?
In terms of closeness, many of the canon characters and events are absent as our game takes place in an alternate world. If we had to pick a "meta" universe to situate our premise, the closest universe would be the world that Kara no Kyoukai/Garden of Sinners take place.
Things like the Mages' Association, the Church, etc. exists in this reality, but people like Emiya Shirou and Tohsaka Rin do not. Mages practicing magecraft are still very much alive, but not commonplace nor known to any average person.
WHAT IS THE HOLY GRAIL?
The Holy Grail is the cup rumored to be filled with the blood of Christ. An omnipotent wish-granting device. Its existence can only be manifested through several conditions: the manifestation of Servants, the conclusion of a Holy Grail War, and the physical chalice that is to hold the true essence of its existence once those parameters have been met.
Of course, SE.RA.PH has completely juked these rules, bending it so that that Grail will manifest itself once players finish the Endgame. Defeating the "last boss" will rip the Grail out of the digital threads that has hidden it away... or so it's theorized.
ARE FATE FCS ALLOWED?
They are, but we highly discourage you from creating carbon copy skill sets/class sets from them.
WHAT'S THIS LUNAR FORECAST IN THE FORUM HEADERS?
If you've noticed by now, at the top of the forum there's a section titled Lunar Forecast. The activity of Monad is highly dependent on the lunar phases of Monad's moon, Máni. Each phase grants a different kind of boon for players.
However, once in a while, Máni will manifest a Blood Moon. This causes all sorts of things, such as normally peaceful mobs to go berserk. Keep your eyes peeled for this particular forecast, which would inevitably lead to a site-wide event.
HOW DO WE UNLOCK THE < NEXT REALM >?
Gatekeepers that serve as Realm Bosses are the most powerful mob on their respective map, or realm. These bosses guard the entrance to the next world. Your job is to seek these Gatekeepers out, defeat them, and unlock the next part of Monad.
CAN I PLAY OTHER CLASSES LIKE RULER/AVENGER/ETC.?
While the role of Ruler and such exists within the game's mainframe, they are considered anomalies and are not available for members. You may see an NPC or two with these special Servant classes, but unfortunately, they are not allowed for member play. We ask you to keep to the seven classes that are recognized by the Throne of Heroes as the "true" classes.
CAN I MAKE MY CHARACTER BE A HYBRID OF SERVANT CLASSES/ROLES?
The short answer is, no. The game's programming is very strict about this.
HOW REALISTIC ARE THE NPCS IN FATE/ONLINE?
Pretty realistic; they're almost indiscernible from real people aside from the fact that you know that they're NPCs. There's something genius about the game's script and programming to achieve this sort of effect, which has been thought of as unprecedented before. This is illustrated by the fact that every NPC has their own, unique personality, never recycles dialogue, and even adhere to schedules that may deviate depending on the environment and their personal circumstances.
Also, to note: if you kill an NPC, they die for real. And may incur the wrath of the town's guards.
